Happy New Year – 2023

From: Office of the National President
To: All Mountaineers
Subject: 2023 NEW YEAR MESSAGE

Dear Mountaineers,

I bring you all good tidings and great expectations for 2023.

2022 has been a great year for us as an Association and as a school. For what we all collectively did we are grateful and our prayer is that God in His infinite mercies will reward us with greater abundance even beyond 2023.

2022 indeed challenged us a lot, what with the loss of a lot of our icons, benefactors, and many Mountaineers that are not so prominent.

Dr. Femi Adegoke, Chief Jibowu Owoade, Arc Fadele, Ambassador Olu Sanu, Professor Akin Mabogunje, Mrs. Sade Obadagboyin, Emeritus Professor Isaac Ayinde Adalemo, Elder Banjo, and many more.

We also lost, among the gems, a great personality and IGSOSA pillar on whose shoulder I personally rose to this prime position, Venerable Olumuyiwa Adebowale Oyewole (VENO) our 10th National President. May their souls and the souls of the faithful continue to find rest in God.

From 2023 it is our hope and plans to have one day of remembrance for all of our members and benefactors who have departed to join the Saints Triumphant. Let us continue to pray for their families and loved ones and also for our members who have lost loved ones.

2022 also brought in this Exco and indeed brought new Trustees and also saw the restructuring of our Association for better efficiency with the establishment of a Resource Center/Secretariat at IGS, Ibadan. Our Website, igsosa.org, our one-stop shop on IGSOSA matters was opened and activated.

Many other activities by Branches, class-sets, and a few individuals were also embarked upon to further elevate our School in its position of prominence.

In 2023, we will honour a few of our members who are noteworthy for their commitment, passion, and love for IGS and our Association.

Early in the New Year the AIONIAN Games, to be hosted by us, will take place. I am pleading and begging that we all rally around our School in this regard. We can not do anything without your support, in cash, and in kind. The ‘can do’ spirit of ‘For God and Fatherland’ should propel us in this regard. Time is of great essence.

In the same first quarter of the year, our School shall turn 110 years old. It is a milestone and by the grace of the Almighty God, we will celebrate it with pomp and pageantry.

Please key the date, March 31st, 2023, into your calendar. Thank you

The year 2023 will be a busy year for us, it will also be a glorious year and your Association looks forward to your cooperation, assistance, and participation in all our programs even as we also look forward to a more cohesive and forward-looking relationship with all our members all over the World.

To our Elders, especially the Registered Trustees led by Dr. Goodie Ibru OON., we pray for more grace and good health. The new year will come good for you all.

We appreciate all Branches and class-sets for their cooperation and support and look forward to more in the new year.

We look forward to more understanding and cooperation with IGSOSA Foundation in the new year. It is our hope that we all will help take our School forward. The Perimeter Fence shall be our key project in 2023.

To the Principals (Senior and Junior Schools), the leadership, the Chaplain, and other members of staff including those at the Sickbay, we appreciate the much you did last year and look forward to a better year.

Let me conclude by thanking all those members who supported and continue to support our programs in 2022. We do not have enough words to express the depth of our gratitude but be assured that God will always answer to your needs even before you call on Him. E se, a dupe!

In 2023 we all have arrived and it shall be a glorious year! For all of us in NEC, there are great expectations and I know we are up to the task. With your goodwill as our family, we believe the wisdom, resources, and strength we need will come to us from Above.

Deo et Patriae!
